Tom Price and Paul Ryan To the Rescue: Help Trump Save Medicare

Oh! Wow! We've Got to Save Flipper! He's Drowning!

If there is anything a good Republican hates is a government program which works, especially one which has the love of large numbers of citizens, especially if those citizens vote.
So they have been unable to destroy Social Security which has survived Republican efforts to assassinate it for the past 80 years and Medicare, which has dodged Republican bullets for the past 50 years.
Ah, but now, with the Supreme Court, the House of Representatives and the Senate firmly in hand and with Mr. Trump in the White House, they've got those two wholly mammoths cornered.
They'll spear and slaughter Obamacare first, of course. Just for practice.
But then the real fun will begin.
And the folks in those red counties in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and really, all over America, will know just who to blame, when Mom and Dad have to move in with them and when the hospital bill for Dad's last weeks on the respirator at the hospital lead to bankruptcy court: The Democrats!
Now we've got 'em

  1. Phantom,
Agreed-when the Trumpsters finally realize there's no insurance for the young, the old and the in betweens, they will return to the scene of the crime and set their sights once again on the culprit-the failed policy of the anti-Christ Obama..In fact one can safely ascribe every misfortune for the next 100 years to the ascension of this evil-doer..yawn...

Ryan seems sincere in his belief that dismantling Medicare will be an improvement-and he's not off his rocker like our new President, so what do you think his motivation is?

    Do love this cartoon-it's fantastic...

  2. Maud,
I can only guess Mr. Ryan is a true believer, like Mr. Price. They really believe Medicare is going to drag the government down into insolvency and Social Security, too. And they believe private enterprise, i.e. rich guys with control over lots of money always do better for the economy than government. What makes this a religious belief, is that is denies all the data and evidence produced against it. So, someone can be father, son and Holy Ghost all at once. It's just faith. Believe it.
Most recently a governor, I think it may have been Sam Brownback of Kansas or Missouri tried cutting taxes and waited for all the newly liberated horses of economic drive to lift his state's economy, which promptly crashed into insolvency. But people like Ryan will shrug off all analysis of the failures of unregulated capitalism and cleave to their beliefs.
